WunderRadio, one of the most popular radio apps for the iPhone, has now found its way onto Android Market, bringing with it thousands of radio stations from around the world at your fingertips.

Local, global and Internet radio on your Android handset

WunderRadio provides both AM/FM and internet radio stations from around the globe and was dubbed Best iPhone Radio Application for the iPhone at the MacWorld convention last year, having had more than 400,000 downloads to date.

The WunderRadio app uses the Android handset’s built-in GOS to determine where you are and present a choice of local stations but also offers others by country and genre.

WunderRadio takes advantage of Android’s multitasking

Unlike the current iPhone version, the Android WunderRadio app can take advantage of multitasking so users can receive and read email, surf the net, handle incoming calls and so on while listening to their favourite stations.

“The multi-tasking capabilities of the Android platform showcase the many interactive features of WunderRadio,” said Josh Carroll, president of Jeyo, the developer of the Android version of the software.

“Users can access the built-in Twitter directory to connect with an on-air DJ, while streaming their favourite station in the background, and never miss an e-mail or phone call.”

WunderRadio also provides information on the current songs playing on any radio stations and offers links to the iTunes Store should the user want to purchase the track.

“WunderRadio leverages the RadioTime Guide to provide a wider selection of stations than any other tuner available for Android,” said Bill Moore, CEO, RadioTime.

“Everything that made WunderRadio for the iPhone and Windows Mobile so popular is available for Android: the most comprehensive worldwide channel list, a wide range of audio formats, reliable listening and integration with your device.”

Popular stations including BBC and Bloomberg are available, as well as regional stations, including RTE, Newstalk and TodayFM.
