IT consultancy and services provider Sogeti is to expand its Dublin and Galway offices over the next three years with the creation of 65 new jobs. The positions will be a mix of high skilled and graduate IT sector roles.
Recruitment for the positions is already in progress. The company, a subsidiary of Capgemini, has had a presence in Ireland since 1979.
The expansion will see its Irish workforce increase to 150 people.
The company provides IT infrastructure services for many of the multinationals based in Ireland.
Announcing the news from Beijing, China, the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton, TD, said: “The Action Plan for Jobs targets IT and outsourcing as key sectors where Ireland has the potential for major employment growth.
“The global ICT sector is expected to grow by 5pc per annum in the coming years, and with implementation of the right Government policies Ireland is extremely well positioned to take advantage of that growth.
“Today’s announcement that Sogeti, a world-leading IT and outsourcing company, is further investing in growing its workforce in Dublin with the creation of 65 jobs, is an indication of what is possible. I am determined to implement the Action Plan for Jobs and ensure that this can be replicated across the country in the coming years,” Bruton said.
Blend of skills, technology and a pro-business environment
Jean-Francois Courtines, chief sales officer and head of Alliances of the Sogeti Group, said the company experienced significant growth across Sogeti’s service lines in recent years, and its future prospects are excellent.
“Sogeti Ireland is an integral part in Capgemini’s global operations and its expansion is in no small part due to the track record of the Sogeti team in Ireland and the availability of a skilled workforce, matching the type of talented, motivated candidates that we seek.
“This further growth is being fuelled by a strong demand around our current offerings of software quality, software development services, and ERP services. We look forward to many more years of success in Ireland,” Courtines said.
Also speaking at the announcement, Jeff Schmalbach, CEO, Sogeti Ireland, said: “Sogeti Ireland is constantly improving and enhancing our service offering and we will be recruiting skilled and enthusiastic people to join our team to deliver a world-class service to our customers.
“Following on the news in November 2011 that we were named the world’s No 1 testing services provider (Ovum Research) and the expansion of our other service lines, we view this growth as further investment into a market that has been a long time strategic market for the group.”
The news that Sogeti is to grow its Irish workforce is further evidence that Ireland’s IT services sector continues to perform extremely well despite challenging market conditions, the CEO of IDA Ireland Barry O’Leary said.
“The world’s leading companies have chosen Ireland as the hub for their services activities because we offer an essential blend of skills, technology and a pro-business environment conducive to growth,” O’Leary said.
