Greyhound Recycling and Recovery is to create 112 new jobs by 2013, the Dublin-based “green” firm announced today.
The company said recruitment for 50 of the jobs has already started with a further 37 people to be taken on in July 2012. Another 25 positions will be open by 2013.
The Government has just announced an increased landfill levy of €75 per tonne. Michael Buckley, co-founder and joint chief executive of Greyhound Recycling and Recovery, believes this move could divert waste away from the landfill and towards recycling.
This would, in turn, create jobs, said Buckley.
The first new 50 recruits will be based in Clondalkin and Ballymount from 1 September.
Buckley added: “The succession of landfill levy increases announced today unlocks the potential to create new jobs in the green economy and to achieve real change in the way that the country manages waste while also bringing clarity and certainty to the waste management sector.”
The company currently employs about 250 people.
