153 SaaS jobs announced for Dublin in four companies

22 Feb 2017

IDA Ireland has announced that four of its SaaS clients from North America and Europe are to create a total of 153 jobs in Dublin.

Software-as-a-service (SaaS) is now one of the biggest areas of growth in the tech industry in Ireland and abroad, both in established companies and budding start-ups.

IDA Ireland has revealed that four of these companies will be moving operations to Dublin from North America and Europe, creating 153 jobs in the process.

PressReader

The biggest single jobs announcement has been made by Canadian tech and media company PressReader, which is offering 65 jobs at its new office in the capital.

The company is one of the world’s largest digital content platforms, giving its users access to publishers and news organisations from 120 countries.

It said that its new headquarters in Dublin will allow it to better support its clients outside of North America.

The 65 jobs will be created over the next few years and will be focused on R&D; multilingual business development; sales and marketing; and management and administration.

Looker

Looker – a data analytics platform with offices in San Francisco, New York, and London – is to make Dublin its new European headquarters, with the creation of 50 jobs over the next three years.

Led by John O’Keeffe, who held executive positions with Salesforce and Nitro in Europe, Looker’s Dublin operations will be hiring sales, marketing, professional services and support staff.

ThinkSmart

ThinkSmart is a business process and workflow automation software company. Its Dublin office will act as the US company’s sales, operations and client management centre in the EMEA region.

To do this, it plans to hire 20 people in sales, customer and support roles. ThinkSmart’s general manager for the region, Christina O’Connell, said that Ireland was a “natural choice” as a location.

ArtOfUs

The final company named in this announcement is ArtOfUs, a London-based company developing a human operating system for the internet of things market.

The company has plans to create 18 R&D jobs in Dublin, citing Ireland’s advanced postdoctoral research by Irish universities as a reason for establishing a base here.

“We are hiring talent with immediate effect in AI, neural networks, OpenCV, audio and cloud-based software platform analytics”, said ArtofUs CEO Leonard Donnelly.

Speaking of the announcement, IDA Ireland’s CEO, Martin Shanahan, said: “Dublin is building a reputation as Europe’s centre for SaaS companies looking to scale, with PressReader, Looker, ThinkSmart, and ArtOfUs establishing their EMEA HQ in Dublin.

“The key differentiator for Ireland over other locations is that Ireland gives SaaS companies the ability to scale quickly with access to the right talent.”
