Oops – royal baby tweet congratulates duchess and Prince Charles

23 Jul 2013

There must have been a few red faces at Guernsey’s government office after a tweet went out on its Twitter account wrongly congratulating the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Charles on the birth of the royal baby yesterday.

“Congratulations to the Duchess of Cambridge and the Prince of Wales on the birth of their baby boy,” the tweet read.

The tweet incorrectly referred to Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, as the Prince of Wales. Prince Charles is not only the Prince of Wales, but William’s father, and thus the baby’s grandfather.

The error was quickly spotted and replaced with a post correctly congratulating the duke and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, on the birth of their son, but not before Twitter users spotted the gaffe and retweeted it several times.
