Twitter to officially open headquarters in Australia

2 Sep 2013

Twitter is to officially open its corporate offices in Sydney, Australia, this week, as the microblogging giant seeks to increase its number of Australian users and boost its advertising revenue.

Some 2m people in Australia use the social network, The Australian reported, and staff have already been working in the building for several weeks.

Leading the charge at Twitter’s Australia headquarters as managing director is Karen Stocks, a former Google Asia-Pacific executive, Twitter confirmed today.

Twitter has been growing its presence in Australia since late 2012. The opening of headquarters in the country comes just weeks after Twitter began to move three of its executives out of its San Francisco, California, headquarters to its other locations around the globe, including Dublin, most likely in an effort to expand its international presence and leadership.
