Coldplay’s Game of Thrones: The Musical plays for laughs – Gigglebit

Kit Harrington (Jon Snow) performs in the sketch

British band Coldplay teamed up with the cast of Game of Thrones to produce Game of Thrones: The Musical in aid of Red Nose Day in the US.

The 12-minute long ‘making-of’ style mockumentary documents Chris Martin and his bandmates’ efforts to produce a musical about the smash-hit HBO drama.

The band actually has some history with Game of Thrones — Coldplay’s drummer Will Champion had a cameo as a musician in the infamous Red Wedding episode during the show’s third season.

He must have called in some favours as most of the show’s lead players make an appearance in the sketch, and show that they’ve got some musical talents.

Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) performs a reggae tune, Rastafarian Targaryen; Kit Harrington (Jon Snow) shows he knows something about rocking out when he performs Wildling, to the tune of Wild Thing, to the delight of his on-screen love Rose Leslie (Ygritte), though the funniest moment is probably when Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) performs what is described in the video as “the first romantic ballad about incest in Coldplay’s career”.

It’s all done pretty well, and there’s a bonus appearance by Liam Neeson at the very end…
