Facebook delivers obscene amounts of traffic to top mobile apps

Facebook has reported via its developers blog that it sent more than 160m visitors to mobile apps, that’s up from 60m in February. Key beneficiaries include Viddy, BranchOut and Flixter.

According to the Developer’s blog these mobile visitors were responsible for more than 1.1bn visits to mobile apps in the same timeframe. This is up from 320m in late February.

According to Facebook’s Developer blog seven of the to ten grossing iOS and six of the top ten grossing Android apps are integrated with Facebook.

Facebook advised developers that features like Single Sign On and Open Graph help to increase installs, usage and re-engagement for mobile apps regardless of whether they are built for iOS, Android or the mobile web.

Impact on mobile apps and Timeline apps

Writing in the Facebook developer’s blog Facebook’s Jonathan Matus said: “Social professional network BranchOut has grown from 1 million monthly active users to over 12.5 million monthly active users 12 weeks after releasing their Facebook integrated mobile web app.

“Since integrating with Facebook and launching their Open Graph actions, Viddy’s community has grown to over 16 million registered users.

“The popular movie review and info mobile web app, Flixster has grown the number of visitors from Facebook 10x to over 480,000 daily in the past 4 weeks . These visitors generated a total of 15 million visits in the same period,” Matus added.

Facebook has been emphasizing the impact lately its apps and Timeline have been having on traffic for various online brands.

Last week, while rolling out 18 new Timeline apps, it said charity app Justgiving raised stg£22m through Facebook, with one in 10 donors sharing their donation via the social networking site.
