Free events for start-ups in the Mid-West

12 Oct 2010

Mid-West Business Week 2010 is taking place across five Enterprise Board areas from 18-22 October with the aim of informing, advising and motivating businesses and potential entrepreneurs in the region.

The County and City Enterprise Boards (CEBs) in Limerick City, Limerick County, Kerry, Clare and Tipperary North are hosting 26 events next week for people in business or wanting to set one up, making it the largest enterprise initiative of its kind in the region.

Collectively, the Mid-West CEBs have supported 50,615 small business owners and managers since the boards were established, creating 5,805 jobs directly and thousands more indirectly.

Keynote addresses and seminars

On the first day of Mid-West Business Week, Paddy Power is to deliver the keynote address at the ‘Power Your Business into 2011’ networking seminar. Brian Moore, Ireland’s only professional Firewalker, will also be delivering a motivational speech at the same event, which takes place at the Woodlands House Hotel in Adare from 5-9pm on 18 October.

On 20 October, two consecutive seminars around the ‘5 Steps to Being Self-Employed’ will be hosted by Rob Marr at the Radisson Blu Hotel on the Ennis Road in Limerick and the Mid-West Showcase Enterprise Exhibition and Seminar takes place at Limerick’s Thomond Park on 21 October.

The busy schedule also includes a venture capital workshop, a women in business network event with Dr Eva Orsmond of RTE’s Operation Transformation, a social media marketing workshop, in addition to other networking sessions and keynote speakers, such as Sean Gallagher from Dragons’ Den.

Most events during Mid-West Business Week are free of charge, while others have been heavily subsidised by the CEBs. The full schedule of events can be viewed online.
