Online marketing event to focus on selling in the digital era

22 May 2013

Not-for-profit online marketing group Online Marketing in Galway is next week hosting a free event for start-ups and businesses to glean insights on online marketing and sales strategies.

The event, which will take place in Galway on Monday, 27 May, will feature presentations from Liz Smyth, European marketing director of Marketo, the cloud-based marketing software provider that went public last week.

Marketo, which set up its European headquarters in Dublin in 2012, raised US$79m through its IPO last Friday.

At Monday’s event, Smyth will be covering online marketing and sales strategies, with a particular focus on marketing automation. She will explore how companies can align their sales and marketing strategies in the digital era.

The other speaker on the evening will be Oisin Browne, the social media lead at the Galway-based waste collection firm City Bin Co. Browne has recently penned a book titled The Binman’s Guide to Selling.

Browne will be talking about the relationship between selling and marketing and how companies can build brand awareness.

As for Online Marketing in Galway, the group has been running since August 2011 as a network for local marketers and businesses in the West of Ireland to share their online marketing knowledge and techniques.
