As cyberattacks continue to plague systems around the world, confidential computing may be the new frontier when it comes to security.

When it comes to cybersecurity, the goal is always to stay one step ahead of attackers. Prevention is always better than cure.

One challenge to keeping data protected is when it is being actively processed. However, Intel’s Paul O’Neill spoke to Siliconrepublic.com about confidential computing and how it can help to tackle this challenge.

“Confidential computing using hardware-based trusted execution environments makes it easier or lowers the risk of exposing [data] to the rest of the system during that decryption method.”

This, he said, reduces the potential for sensitive data to be exposed while providing a higher degree of control and transparency for users.
