The Leaders’ Room podcast features interviews with the country managers of some of Ireland’s leading sci-tech multinationals.
In February 2023, SiliconRepublic.com launched a new podcast series created in partnership with IDA Ireland.
In each episode, Ann O’Dea sits down with Ireland-based leaders of some of the world’s leading technology, health-tech, finance and engineering companies with operations in Ireland – from IBM and Ericsson to HPE and Thermo King.
In its inaugural episode, O’Dea spoke to Slalom’s Ireland country manager, Jane Dawson-Howe, who spoke about the changing nature of leadership and her own leadership journey and style.
“I’m a big fan of something that we call organisational clarity, and a lot of people have heard of Simon Sinek, and he talks a lot about ‘start with the why’, and he has this diagram where he’s got a circle, and in the middle of the circle is the why, and outside the why is the how, and then after that is the what, and organisational clarity is a bit like that,” she said.
“So, you need to start with being really clear about what your organisation is for, why it’s here and what it hopes to achieve, and then you need to be clear with every individual what their role is and how they’re going to contribute to that.”
