Following a collaboration between Irish and German institutions, DCU celebrates the opening of the Fraunhofer Project Centre.
Science Foundation Ireland and Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft celebrated the opening of the Fraunhofer Project Centre (FPC) for Embedded BioAnalytical Systems at Dublin City University (DCU) on 9 May 2017.
A first of its kind to be established in Ireland, the FPC will focus on developing lab-on-a-chip technologies, combining the biomedical research expertise at DCU with the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology’s facilities for prototyping and mass production.
These technologies will enable immediate ‘point-of-use’ testing of samples, such as blood or water, for a wide range of applications including personal healthcare, pharmaceutical production, life sciences research, quality testing in agri-food and environmental monitoring.
