Search engine Google has quickly added a person finder service in the aftermath of the horrific events in Boston yesterday.
At least three people were killed and 128 people were being treated after two explosions occurred close to the finish line of the Boston marathon.
The person finder app is currently tracking around 5,000 records.
It allows people to search for loved ones, or to upload information on a person to Google’s database.
It is understood that 108 Irish people had been registered for the marathon. The Irish Department of Foreign Affairs has advised relatives concerned about anyone who may have been caught up in yesterday’s tragic events to ring 01 408 2000.
