Nimble Tours creates mobile apps for tourism

Dublin-based start-up Nimble Tours is launching its service to build customised interactive mobile apps for tours. The launch is part of the DCU Business School and LINK’s 12 Business Days of Christmas.

The start-up develops mobile applications for tour operators which uses GPS mapping and multimedia capabilities to replace tour guide books, pamphlets and guidebooks.

The aim of these apps is to help visitors get a sense of the history of a site, region or city as they make their way through it.

“Our mobile apps recommend things to see and do; provide directions; and entertain and inform visitors along the way,” said John Maughan, director of Nimble Tours.

“Nimble Tour Apps can tell the story of your destination, and can serve handpicked advertising to generate additional revenue,” he said.

The company is launching as part of the 12 Business Days of Christmas, an initiative by Dublin City University’s Leadership, Innovation and Knowledge Research Centre (LINK) to kick start brand awareness of 12 new internet companies. The companies involved have either spun out from DCU or have recently gained expertise from the college.

Nimble Tours apps can be built for the iOS and Android platform.
