Muzu jumps onto the Windows 8 bandwagon with new app

9 Oct 2012

Irish-owned music video service Muzu is making sure it’s ready for Microsoft’s brand new operating system ahead of the 26 October release with the launch of the Muzu.tv app for Windows 8.

Muzu is a platform for music video content used by many websites but its entire catalogue is also available through its dedicated website, Muzu.tv.

Supported by advertising, Muzu.tv gives users free access to more than 110,000 videos, including music videos, live concerts, festival footage, interviews, archive footage, music news and behind-the-scenes clips. The platform, which has an established base in the UK and Ireland and is now spreading its wings across Europe, currently sees 480m video streams per month.

With the new app, Muzu.tv aims to be the first music video application available for Windows 8 users, no doubt hoping for the same success through this Microsoft partnership as with the Muzu.tv Xbox application which has reached more than 1.4m downloads.

Users of the Muzu.tv Windows 8 app will be able to browse and watch videos on demand, as well as create and share video playlists. The developers behind the app have also incorporated features unique to the Windows 8 platform, such as Snap View, which lets users watch a video ‘snapped’ to the left-hand side of the screen while using other applications, and Semantic Zoom, which zooms out to give an overview of all video categories with a pinch gesture.
