US computer parts manufacturer, Analog Devices, today announced its plans to let 150 staff go from its Limerick plant, in what it said is part of an overall manufacturing strategy.
They’re changing their focus on semi-conductor processing. The strategy involves focusing on the 8-inch wafer semiconductor processing base in Limerick while phasing out the less advanced 6-inch completely by the end of 2008.
This phasing out will mean job losses of 150 which the company is handling through voluntary redundancy packages in Limerick.
The company, which established an Irish base in 1977, currently employs around 1,100 staff. The job losses will not affect Analog Devices’ Cork plant.
