Mobile coupon service joins Bebo

28 May 2007

Irish mobile coupon service ICEfone has extended its reach to the popular social networking site Bebo.

ICEfone offers mobile coupons from retailers of which consumers can avail by texting direct from their mobile to sign up. To use the service, phones must be internet enabled.

Depending on the individual retailer, vouchers can have once-off or multiple uses. The subscriber takes his or her phone with the downloaded coupon to the specific retailer and claims the discount in-store, based on the built-in security code. Customers just pay the mobile phone operator’s charge for texting – the coupons are free.

ICEfone has been offering coupons from Apache Pizza, Eddie Rockets and Leisureplex since 5 April and has just signed 10 new retail outlets, including Four Star Pizza, Godfathers Pizza, X-Box Gaming Centre, Evolve Hair, Float and Spectra.

McDonalds is currently trialing the ICEfone mobile coupon service in a number of locations around Ireland.

The company’s new Bebo page tells consumers how to download the service to their mobile phones and posts news of different offers around the country.

The company reported more than 6,000 hits and over 1,000 subscribers within the first two weeks of going live.
