Data Electronics in €25m expansion

26 Nov 2007

Irish data centre provider Data Electronics is investing €25m to expand a new and existing 40,000sq ft data centre in Ballycoolin in west Dublin into a 100,000sq ft facility by next year, it emerged this morning.

The expansion will see Data Electronics’ workforce grow from 55 people to 100 people when the final phase is completed in mid-2008.

The company will be able to increase the range of secure business continuity and IT infrastructure hosting it provides SME, corporate and government organisations in Ireland and overseas.

Data Electronics recently added a further 1,500sq ft to its facility in Kilcarbery Park following a €2.5m extension in October 2005. This extension takes the facility to 22,500sq ft.

In the past five years the company has grown its staff base by 20pc. Its Network Operation Centre can monitor and support businesses 24×7 for a fraction of the cost a company would face recreating their own operation.

“This significant investment which demonstrates our continued growth in the market and our long-term commitment to supplying world-class networked IT services to our customers,” commented Data Electronics’ chief executive Maurice Mortell.
