Tech titan IBM has acquired software provider Daeja Image Systems Ltd for an undisclosed sum, in a move to provide organisations with the tools to manage and work with their data.
Daeja Image Systems Ltd, a privately held company headquartered in Milton Keynes, UK, delivers software that helps employees across all industries, especially data-intensive ones such as banking, insurance and healthcare, access critical business information more quickly.
Daeja’s software lets users open and view hundreds of document and image file formats, even if the native application is not present on their devices. This in turn saves time and enables social collaboration and document sharing across the organisation, IBM said.
For example, an insurance agent can view car accident photos off-site to expedite the claims review process.
“The acquisition of Daeja will simplify how business data is viewed by department or line-of-business users,” said IBM Enterprise Content Management Business Leader Doug Hunt.
Stu Moss, CEO at Daeja, said the combined strengths of IBM and Daeja can help clients manage their data challenges and directly enhance IBM’s key market initiatives for big data, mobile, and content management.
Upon the close of the acquisition, IBM plans to incorporate Daeja into its Software Group and its Enterprise Content Management (ECM) business.
