Data Edge in €200k fibre test deal with E-net

10 Jul 2013

Network performance specialist Data Edge has signed a contract worth €200,000 with E-net to improve performance management of Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs) around Ireland.

E-net, which manages MAN fibre infrastructure in 94 towns, serves providers like UPC, Vodafone, BT and Imagine, and its network footprint includes more than 1,000km of fibre cable.

CA Infrastructure Management (IM) software has been deployed by Data Edge that will allow E-net to identify unexpected peaks and troughs in utilisation and quality of service.

The software also enables E-net to plan for the future and in advance assess the impact of the introduction of a 50Mbps demand to a specific link.

“With this investment in place, we expect much better visibility of all monitored interfaces and links so that we can focus our troubleshooting, reduce our mean time to repair and manage a much larger infrastructure estate without increasing our management costs,” explained E-net CTO Thomas Grant.
