A new business support website Irishwomeninbusiness.ie was launched today, which aims to provide an opportunity for women in business to network and promote their businesses online.

The website is the brain-child of Tallaght–based entrepreneur Tara Wilson-Black.

Irishwomeninbusiness.ie aims to unite women online and allow them to share resources, information and ideas.

Members can to receive advice on finance, the economy, the internet and marketing, and the site also seeks to provide women with a platform to showcase their work and provide networking facilities.

One unique feature of the website is an online chat forum where women can discuss and overcome business challenges.

Tara Wilson-Black, managing director of Select Digital Print, began developing the organisation behind Irishwomeninbusiness.ie in January 2009.

“Through developing my own business and trying to overcome challenges in industry, I saw the need for a network where women in business could develop their contacts, display their products and work with each other,” said Wilson-Black today, at the launch of the new website at Dublin’s Dylan Hotel.

“The increasingly challenging financial environment means that more and more female entrepreneurs are looking for support. We want to encourage women to mentor each other in various ways.

“The website is open to women to join from all around Ireland. We will continue to develop and work on the features including chat forums.

“We want to provide a state-of-the art website where women in business can provide support for each other. We want to encourage women to develop businesses, even in the poor business climate which permeates at the moment,” Wilson-Black said.

“There are many women who want to promote and develop new businesses, and I hope this organisation can help them to succeed.”

The organisation has a number of key women in business as supporters and mentors in various areas. Its panel of experts include Barbara O Reilly, Laura Leonard and Michelle Daly.

The chief sponsors of www.irishwomeninbusiness.ie include Bank of Ireland and OwnerManager Magazine.
