Aesir's solid gold phone

Here’s a phone for the person who has everything – a solid gold handset from Danish retailer Aesir.

Features that come with the phone? Erm, none. It has no email or internet functionality, no camera and no GPS navigation. You can’t even play games on it.

Yet Aesir said it hopes to sell the €41,809, limited-edition, 18-carat gold phones that took three years to develop to Moscow’s fashion-forward elite, Reuters reported.

The phone, designed by Yeves Behar, is “not a play thing,” company founder Thomas Jensen told Reuters, adding that “it’s a collector’s item. People are used to collecting, say, watches, while designer phones is a practically empty niche.”

And why seek buyers in Moscow?

Mathias Rajani, Aesir’s chief commercial officer, said people’s spending in Moscow is more intellectual and sophisticated.
