It took nearly one year for the OnePlus One to go invite-free, yet, less than five months after its release, the OnePlus 2 will be made available on-demand from 5 December.

The demand for the OnePlus One when it launched was unprecedented due to its low-cost compared to other equally powerful handsets, and the OnePlus 2 was no different.

The only trouble for OnePlus, the Chinese start-up that manufactures the phone, was it had serious struggles keeping up with demand for its inaugural phone that it admitted it had failed miserably at controlling.

Now, however, things seem to be all rosy in the company, as it has announced in time for Christmas that the OnePlus 2 phone will now be available to purchase without an invite, while its newer mid-range phone, the OnePlus X, will also go invite-free on 5 December, but for only two days to enable people to order for Christmas.

“The invite system has been crucial to letting us scale our operations and has given our fans a unique way to share OnePlus with the people in their lives,” the company said. “But we are always trying to enhance the OnePlus experience for you and taking risks to push ourselves and show real improvements. That’s why we’re making the OnePlus 2 invite-free … forever!”

For those unfamiliar with the phone, it certainly packs a punch, considering its starting price is €300, with its 64-bit Qualcomm© Snapdragon 810 processor with 1.8GHz, 4GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and 3,300 mAh battery.

This version might be a little trickier to get your hands on, with OnePlus saying it’s currently sold out, but the 64GB version is available for €357 at its online store.
