Google tweaks mobile search

8 Oct 2009

For smart-phone web surfers using an Android, iPhone or Palm WebOS, Google has added some new refinement options to improve search results.

Following the Search Options tools released earlier this year for the desktop, Google has tweaked the amount of refinement for mobile-web searches with options that drill down depending on what you have searched for.

For example, if you have searched for the Nikon D5000, options would take you to filtering by web, forum or reviews, and you can further refine by choosing a timescale.

However, what Reza Ziaei, software engineer, Google Mobile Team, describes as the ability to “slice and dice your mobile-search results” has only been released today in the US, us Europeans will have to wait some more. No time has been specified for its release on this side of the water, or if it will be rolled out for Windows Mobile users, either.
