Galway-based software company Outstanding Solutions is to provide €60,000 worth of higher-level maths software to teachers around the country.

Digital Grinds for Higher Level Leaving Certificate Maths is an educational resource that uses cutting-edge technology and interactive programming to emulate one-to-one grinds through a multi-media driven computer application, the company said.

Outstanding Solutions pointed out that over 61pc of students taking higher-level maths drop down to ordinary-level maths during the two years of the Leaving Certificate course.

The low numbers taking higher-level maths for the Leaving Cert are a major cause of concern for industry and the government as it is a discipline essential for many careers in engineering, computing and the science sectors.

CEO of Outstanding Solutions Brian McNamara commented: “Our software, although new, is currently being used by over 400 students and teachers around the country and the feedback so far is such that we believe this software will help contribute in reversing this worrying trend.”

The recommended retail price of the software package is €69.99 and Outstanding Solutions is giving away 1,000 copies. Teachers can call the company on 091 525706 or 091 583843 to avail of the offer or email digitalgrinds@gmail.com. More information can be found on the company’s website, www.digitalgrinds.ie.
