Former start-up company Property Consortium UK – a property repair service for the insurance industry – has secured the environmental standard ISO 14001 for its work to protect the environment.

It has signed up to Business in the Community (BITC) to build on the existing green processes in place and work towards a sustainable business model that benefits the wider community.

CEO Jeremy Hyams, built the Somerset company from an initial start-up in the 1990s.

Growth

Hyams commented: “We need to look forward at how we operate in the future in a way that combines a strategy for growth, whilst maintaining our core, people-focused values and being a responsible business.

“We are developing an action plan with BITC, with opportunities including influencing the use of ‘green’ products in repair works carried out by our nationwide contractor network, as well as volunteering and community activities to support the wider area.”

The ISO 14001, and ISO 14004 standards deal with environmental management systems (EMS) and provide the requirementsfor an EMS and gives general EMS guidelines.
