Samsung Marshmallow update softened by leak of new waterproof Galaxy S7

Samsung's new Galaxy S7 is waterproof, according to this leaked video

A winning waterproof feature on the new Samsung Galaxy S7 smartphone has been revealed in a leak, ironically.

Not so watertight, Samsung’s had the rug pulled from under it by another news leak, this time that the forthcoming Galaxy S7 will be waterproofed.

The Korean tech giant’s reveal that it was updating its Galaxy S6 devices to Android 6.0 Marshmallow was overshadowed by the leak.

Samsung yesterday said that it plans to provide the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, starting with Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge devices from 15 February, with other Galaxy devices to follow. The update will enable Samsung to provide enhanced and new edge-screen features.

However, the news was overshadowed by a leak – whether intended or unintended – by Samsung’s Indonesian arm a week earlier than planned showing off the waterproofed features of the new Galaxy S7.

On first glance, the device in the video is identical to the Galaxy S6 Edge and shows a young woman wirelessly charging the device during an intense workout and wearing it on her arm during a jog through the Indonesian rain forests.

The video emphasises how the new device interacts with wearables such as the Samsung Gear smartwatch with Android Wear.

Then the young lady shows off her archery skills and fancy Samsung S7 smartphone during a heavy monsoon downpour, before heading off to the Olympics to pick up a gold medal. As you do.

Samsung is due to unveil its new Galaxy S7 smartphone at its traditional Unboxing event at Mobile World Congress this Sunday (21 February) in Barcelona.
