Twelve-year-old Irish coder Jordan Casey, who earlier this year became one of Europe’s youngest iOS coders, has just received approval from Apple for his latest game, Greenboy Touch.
Casey’s latest game Greenboy Touch is a follow-up to his first game series consisting of Alien Ball Vs Humans and Alien Ball Vs Humans 2: Holiday.
Greenboy Touch is an expanding puzzle game that first emerged on the PC platform and is already on the Android platform. The game’s character, Greenboy, wakes up in a forest miles from home and the player has to complete a number of puzzles to bring Greenboy home. The new game will be free on the iTunes store for the first week of its release.
Jordan’s first game, Alien Ball Vs Humans, went on sale on the Apple App Store in February for the iPad and the iPhone, making him one of the youngest iOS developers in the world.
An article on Siliconrepublic.com led to Casey, a proud CoderDojo mentor, being invited to the Cannes Lions Festival for Creativity in Communications last June by JWT as a guest panelist.
While at Cannes, a representative for Fabrica Brasil asked him if he would be interested making a game for the South American advertising agency. That game, Save the Day, went live on Fabrica Brasil’s website on 12 October to mark International Children’s Day in Brazil.
In related news, CoderDojo co-founder James Whelton was recently awarded €200,000 from Social Entrepreneurs Ireland and was also named an Ashoka fellow as part of which he will also raise a further €100,000. As a result, he has formed his own foundation, the Hello World Foundation, which aims to help other tech initiatives and integrate them with the Irish education system.
Another young coder, Harry Moran (13), from Cork, who last year became the world’s youngest Mac app developer, is in the final stages of work on his next game for the iOS platform. More will be revealed as it happens.
