AIB launches Me2U smartphone money transfer app

7 Jan 2014

In another move towards a cashless future, AIB has launched its Me2U app for smartphones that will give users the ability to instantly transfer funds between the smartphone users’ accounts.

Me2U allows registered phone and internet banking users to send money securely to anyone with a euro personal Visa debit/credit card, without the need to share bank details.

Speed and simplicity has been put at the forefront of the idea, as Me2U allows users to send money without the sender required to know anything more than the recipient’s mobile phone number.

The service links the user’s euro personal Visa card with his or her mobile phone number, enabling money to be sent directly from his or her Visa card.

According to Brian Keating, brand director, AIB: “We are delighted to be able to bring Me2U to our customers. It’s a really useful app that makes transferring money easy and we believe it will quickly become part of our customers’ everyday life.”

“The really useful thing about the Me2U app is that you can send and receive money between smartphones as easily as texting.”

The Me2U app can now be downloaded from the iTunes App Store and Google Play.

To use the app, you need to register for Me2U on AIB internet banking and have a valid personal euro AIB Visa debit or credit card.

The recipient will also need a valid euro personal Visa card but they don’t have to be banking with AIB.
