Basically, what this means is that all S60 devices – which includes the Eseries and Nseries handsets such as the forthcoming N96 smart phone – can use CiceroV2oIP (video and voice over IP) to stream video from their handset while holding a conversation with another incoming video stream and supporting ‘half-duplex’ video apps, which ordinarily wouldn’t be able to send and receive at the same time.

The technology also promises to let users manage their online status and effectively roam across networks, going from Wi-Fi to 2G or 3G seamlessly, without voice or video disruption.

“CiceroPhone V2oIP offers a truly enriched real-time communication experience that will encourage users to communicate in exciting new ways.”

Of course, live steaming video apps for mobile have taken off in the past year or so with Qik as a notable example of the popularity of this service for businesses and individuals looking to broadcast themselves live and on the hoof.

The CiceroPhone V2oIP will be on show at the IMS 2.0 Rich Communication show in Amsterdam until tomorrow, 2 October.
