17 Feb 2011

The highly-anticipated zombie game Dead Island for the PS3 and Xbox 360 has been revealed, along with a stunning teaser trailer.

According to IGN, the game will be a “first-person zombie slasher/action RPG.” Developed by Techland and published by Deep Silver, the game takes place in the Royal Palms Resort on the island of Banoi in Papua, New Guinea.

The player takes on the role of a tourist on holiday here. When a zombie outbreak happens, the main character and a few other guests remain unaffected.

They must escape the island and, along the way, discover its secret.

The game is said to be driven by the narrative and is also built to allow up to four players for co-operative mode.

Dead Island doesn’t rely on powerful weapons such as grenades and rocket launchers, forcing the player to scavenge for normal objects to fight the undead. Weapons will include bats, knives and broomsticks.

There will also be a mini role-playing element, where the player grows their characters’ abilities to fight.

A teaser trailer has been released, showing off the concept of the game. It’s both gory and impressive, managing to capture the attention of gamers across the web.
