As a result of an agreement signed today with NEC Infrontia Corporation, Esat BT said it will be able to directly supply a full range of telephony systems to the small and medium (SME) market in Ireland.
Esat BT’s deal with NEC, which makes internet broadband network and enterprise business solutions, will enable it to offer a one stop shop of telephony services at prices it claims will be less than the incumbent provider, Eircom.
The NEC phone system is one of the most advanced in the telephony business and incorporates applications like voice over IP, unified messaging and call centre functionality.
Leo O’Leary, head of indirect channels at Esat BT, said that the deal was of “strategic significance to Esat BT as it enables us for the first time to directly target the SME sector with a world class and competitively priced range of telephony systems, which we can wrap around our existing support and communications services.
“Dealing with one Esat BT point of contact for all of a business’s telephony requirements will simplify and streamline the internal management and procurement processes for SMEs,” O’Leary said.
