Black Eyed Peas single downloaded more than 1m times

‘I Gotta Feeling’, the song by US band Black Eyed Peas, has become the first single to be downloaded more than 1 million times in the UK, it has emerged.

“It’s exhilarating to know we are so connected to our Peabodies. Hopefully, the good vibes from that song will continue to brighten people’s lives,” said singer Fergie.

Black Eyed Peas also hold the record in the UK for most downloads sold by a single group – a staggering 3.3 million.

‘I Gotta Feeling’, which was originally released in June last year, was No 1 in the UK for two weeks and spent a further 33 weeks in the Top 40.

The UK has been counting music downloads as part of the official chart system since 2005. Some 98pc of singles purchased in the UK today are downloads.
