Dublin-headquartered software company Version 1 has acquired the Oracle ERP business of London-based Database Service Provider (DSP) Global Limited for an undisclosed sum.

The move will significantly grow Version 1’s expertise in the area of enterprise resource planning (ERP) and the company has appointed Chris Baker as its ERP practice head. Baker recently joined Version 1 from KPMG where he led many Oracle ERP engagements.

Founded in 1996, Version 1 now has a 750-strong workforce, with 200 of these based in the UK.

This is the sixth UK acquisition by Version 1, the most recent being midlands-based Oracle E-business Suite specialist Patch Solutions.

Oracle ERP market leader

“Today’s announcement firmly establishes Version 1 as the market leader in UK and Ireland for Oracle ERP consulting, implementation and managed services,” Justin Keatinge, CEO of Version 1, said.

“It further consolidates our position as the Oracle partner of choice for customers requiring integrated end-to-end services and joined-up expertise across Oracle applications, database, hardware and cloud.

“We are delighted to strengthen our ERP practice through this acquisition, welcoming a team of highly-skilled Oracle ERP specialists and new customers in the travel and hospitality, retail, utilities, gaming and betting, financial services, professional services and software and high-tech industries.

“This deal is the latest step in our acquisition programme, which is focused on reinforcing our ability to deliver a complete line of solutions and services across our main technology partnerships with Oracle, Microsoft and Amazon,” he concluded.
