With the aim of helping early-stage enterprises grow, the Guinness Enterprise Centre (GEC) yesterday unveiled plans to invest €1m in a cutting edge IT infrastructure with access to up-to-the-minute technologies for resident companies.
The GEC is a Dublin-based enterprise centre that provides support for emerging businesses with a focus on the areas of IT, e-commerce, internationally traded services, software development and multimedia sectors.
The €1m will mean investment for 30MB broadband, video conferencing services and a Voice over IP (VoIP) network.
John McInerney, GEC manager, said: “This investment provides entrepreneurs with the leading edge technologies and facilities that can give them a technical advantage.
“It enables these early stage companies to accelerate their growth and graduate successfully thus allowing space to become available to exciting new enterprises.”
Brian Nesbit, who is business development director at Network.ie, a provider of networking and IP services, said that technology such as VoIP and video conferencing were becoming of increasing importance in the face of corporate social responsibility when it comes to environmental issues like reducing its carbon footprint.
This comes at the same time as the launch of the GEC’s redesigned website.
