UTV Online adds online backup to security offerings

11 Dec 2008

Northern Ireland-based ISP (internet service provider) UTV Online has brought F-Secure on board again to provide its new Online Backup service – a move which strengthens the two firm’s existing relationship in providing customers with a range of security services.

The new F-Secure Online Backup means that users can have unlimited backup for valuable files, which will be automated in the background, and as it is all done online, there is no need for any additional devices on the user’s end.

Pekka Mettala, UK & Ireland country manager at F-Secure, said: “Today’s electronic generation make use of laptops, cameras and iPods – devices which are full of valuable data. F-Secure’s solution works in the background, updating regularly, so the customer doesn’t have to worry about anything.”

This move makes UTV Internet the first ISP in the UK and Ireland to offer such a solution to its customer base. It is offering a 90-day free trial of Online Backup to new and existing customers.

On why it chose to work with F-Secure, Jeremy Biggerstaff, managing director at UTV New Media, said: “We have a enjoyed a successful two-year relationship with F-Secure where we have been able to give customers new and innovative products to use with broadband.

“Online Backup’s ease of use and reliability make it a necessity, not just a nice-to-have.”
