Dublin software company Openmind Networks has been awarded a lucrative contract to provide advanced SMS hubbing services for the international carrier division of Norwegian telecom giant Telenor.

Telenor Global Services (TGS) provides telecom operators with wholesale voice termination, SMS, multimedia messaging, IP virtual private network and IP transit services.

Telenor’s SMS interworking gateway provides SMS routing, translations and management across all technologies for ubiquitous messaging services among mobile operators worldwide.

Openmind’s Message-OS platform provides operators like Telenor with a unified management and access control layer across all messaging and data communications across a telecom network.

The product also helps operators to address intra-operator message routing, spam, privacy protection and personalised service support.

The overall aim of Openmind’s technology is to reduce a mobile operator’s overall operational expenditure on deploying text and picture messaging services.

It is understood that mobile companies in four continents are using Openmind Networks’ products to serve hundreds of millions of mobile subscribers.

“TGS and Openmind Networks have been working closely together on the SMS hubbing project,” said Kjetil Hanshus, vice-president of Mobile Markets at TGS.

“TGS have chosen Openmind Networks’ Message-OS Traffic Control Platform to strengthen our service offering and provide scalability as our business grows with the TGS global mobile operator base,” Hanshus added.
