No toy has enchanted generations quite like Lego. Here you can observe people who have built everything from Ferrari race cars to entire battleships using the universally loved plastic bricks.

George Bernard Shaw famously said: “We dont stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.”

For some of us, it feels like Lego has been around forever. And yet to this day, it is still amazing to see a child’s delight at their first creations or constructions using the interlocking plastic bricks.

Lego began in the workshop of Ole Kirk Christiansen, a carpenter from Billund in Denmark, in 1934.

The word Lego is derived from the Danish phrase leg godt which means play well.

The first version of Lego bricks was produced in 1949 and they were described simply as Automatic Binding Bricks.

Christiansen urged his employees to never skimp on quality as a value and the company’s motto to this day is det bedste er ikke for godt, which means the best is never too good.

And so here today are some of the most imaginative creations using Lego from adults who are still children at heart:

Last year, Lego replaced Ferrari as Brand Finance’s most powerful brand, and so it is apt that we kick off proceedings with a loving creation of a Ferrari car using Lego.
