SingStar now available from PlayStation’s XMB, play using Eye camera

X Factor wannabes can now challenge their vocal cords on SingStar without needing the discs or the microphones as the game has been made available to download directly to the PlayStation 3 and can pick up users’ voices via the mic on the PlayStation Eye camera.

From today, users can download SingStar directly from the XMB on PlayStation 3 by finding the game in the ‘Game’ section and following on-screen instructions.

The competitive singing game can then be played using official SingStar microphones or wireless headsets, other common USB microphones, or just the built-in mic on the PlayStation Eye camera. The latter will only work for single-player mode, though, but it will pick up everyone singing in the room, allowing for a chorus of players to join in.

Songs can be downloaded from a selection of almost 3,000 in the SingStore, and there are also demo songs available for free. Songs from PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 disc collections can be accessed from the song carousel screen using disc swap.
