Your child ignoring your phone calls? There’s an app for that

18 Aug 2014

One mother and app designer has created an app that shuts down a child’s phone until he or she returns a call from their parent.

Called Ignore No More!, Sharon Standfird designed the Android app after she became frustrated with her kids’ ‘disappearance on the grid’ whereby they wouldn’t return her calls.

However, now if the app is installed on the child’s phone, the device can be rendered useless until that call is returned, bar a call to an emergency number.

Standfird, a founder of Mountaineer Technology Ventures, describes the app on her website.

“Ignore No More! is an app that helps parents to re-establish an open line of communication with their children.”

The app cannot be disabled on a child’s phone, but rather on the parent’s phone, who can have access to multiple accounts.

Speaking to CBS New York, Standfird’s son Bradley thought it was a great idea, at least in the beginning.

“Um, well, I thought it was a good idea, but for other people. Not me.”
