Microsoft addresses Windows Phone 8 reboot bug, fix expected next month

28 Nov 2012

Following reports that some Windows Phone 8 devices have been spontaneously rebooting, Microsoft has recognised the problem and informed users that a fix is coming soon.

In a statement to CNET, Microsoft said, “We’re continuing to investigate some reports of phones rebooting and have identified a cause with our partners. We are working to get an over-the-air update out in December.”

The company did not elaborate on what is causing the mysterious reboots or address other reported issues with email sync.

Windows Phone 8 officially launched on 29 October, with the first devices reaching operators this month. However, the reboot issue seems to have affected various devices from different manufacturers, including HTC’s Windows Phone 8X and 8S, and Nokia’s Lumia 920.
