With first-quarter Personal Systems Group (PSG) results showing a 7.1pc growth in the PC vendor market from this time last year, Hewlett-Packard(HP) now has a market share of 32.9pc, making it the top PC vendor in Ireland.

With 40,834 units sold by HP in Ireland in Q1, the firm said it has outperformed Dell by over 10,000 units

Industry analyst IDC has also reported that HP topped six out of seven PC categories for: desktop PC, portable PC, x86 servers, commercial desktop PC, commercial portable PC and consumer portable PC.

“The Q1 preliminary results are very encouraging for the Personal Systems Group in Ireland,” said general manager for PSG and SPO in Ireland, Martin Cullen.

“The results show that we are continuing to perform strongly and grow in the Irish marketplace, despite the difficult economic and market conditions. It is a very welcome and timely boost for everyone, in what will undoubtedly be a very challenging year.”
