ICT service revenues return to growth

11 Dec 2009

ICT service revenues increased on a sequential basis to $59.8 billion in the third quarter, after declining for the previous six quarters in a row.

“Revenues were still down almost 5pc year-over-year, but that is a lot less than in the first and second quarters,” said Ovum vice-president John Lively.

“The trend shows clear improvement and suggests the worst of the recession impact is over.”

Software and IT services revenues were US$28.3 billion, up 3.6pc sequentially, down 4.9pc versus 3Q08. Fujitsu, HP, and IBM led the segment in market share.

Business Process Consulting were US$18.6 billion, up 2.4pc sequentially, and down 6.6pc versus 3Q08. IBM, Accenture and CSC led this segment in market share.

Telecom Infrastructure services were US$12.8 billion, up 0.6pc sequentially, and down 8.6pc versus 3Q08. T-Systems, Cisco, Ericsson, NSN and Alcatel-Lucent each held more than 10pc share in this segment in 3Q09.
