Indo revamps its flagship website

18 May 2007

Ireland’s biggest selling newspaper, the Irish Independent, has rolled out a completely new-look website that includes searchable archives dating back to 1997.

The new-look site can be accessed at www.independent.ie.

The site captures the essence of what a newspaper online should be, conveying and providing the visitor with an instant grasp of a particular day’s content as well as quick access to various sections.

The site also manages to keep a newspaper feel in structure as well through the use of large photographs and elaborate fonts on headline stories.

One of the key features of the new site, and the trump card, is the long overdue introduction of a searchable archive of Irish Independent articles that dates back to 1997.

The site also includes snappy drop-down menus for quick access to world news, 18 regional papers, Opinion and Election 2007 coverage.

Access to regular sections such as business, sport and entertainment as well as classifieds is made speedy through the use of tabs.

Articles from siliconrepublic.com’s e-Thursday section, which appears each week in the business section of the Irish Independent newspaper, can be accessed in the business section of the new site.
