High-tech jobs are on the up at Guinness Enterprise Centre (GEC), with graduate company OpenJaw Technologies announcing it created 35 positions in 2008. Overall, GEC graduate companies produced over 400 high-tech jobs last year.

OpenJaw Technologies delivers high-performance travel distribution solutions to the global travel industry, enabling travel companies to market, distribute and sell their online offerings in a differentiated way.

With offices in Dublin, Galway and Madrid, OpenJaw Technologies counts American Airlines, SAS, COSMOS (UK) and Color Line (Norway) among its 40 customers worldwide.

OpenJaw’s solution portfolio includes the xDistributor Integration Platform and Business Rules Engine that enable travel supplier integration, distribution channel management and dynamic packaging. It also offers a customised Internet-booking engine; a sales and servicing platform for call centre agents; and a content, mapping and inventory management system for accommodation, as well as one for event tickets and destination activities.

Since graduating from the GEC in 2004, OpenJaw Technologies has grown revenue by 700pc and increased employees by 1,400pc.

In making the jobs announcement John McQuillan, OpenJaw Technologies CEO, acknowledged the central role the GEC played in its formative years. “It allowed us to grow at a pace that was right for us. Since graduating, OpenJaw has been in a strong position to scale its business and achieve the levels of success we are now enjoying,” he said.

The GEC was set up in 2000 and is managed by the Dublin Business Innovation Centre. It provides incubator space for established small businesses, primarily in the ICT sector.
