O2 has announced a new price plan for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with a monthly charge of €10 and a €99 cap on spending.
The €10 charge includes free texts to any network each month, free calls to company O2 mobiles on the same account and free calls to up to 10 user company landlines. Thereafter, calls to mobiles and landlines are billed at 14c per minute but the monthly spend is automatically capped at €99, with the intention of facilitating greater cost control for SMEs.
“The principal advantage of the new plan is that SMEs only pay for calls they make up to a maximum of €99 per month (ex VAT). So SME users pay less if they talk less. No other operator currently offers this to the SME market,” said Denis Kelleher, head of SME, Telefónica O2 Ireland. “The plan also offers free texts, which we know from research are being increasingly used for business purposes by SMEs.”
Research conducted for O2 Ireland by TNS mrbi has found use of SMS for business increased from 29pc in 2004 to 50pc by the end of 2008.
