It would only take 0.3pc of the world’s land area to supply all of our electricity needs via solar power, states a new infographic that presents facts and figures about solar energy.
The infographic published on Visual.ly begins with the basics, a definition of solar power and where it comes from. Next up is methods of solar energy conservation and ‘solar energy in numbers’, a list of eight numerical facts.
The infographic wraps up by revealing the solar industry creates 200-400 jobs in research, development, manufacturing and installation. These figures are in line with a five-year outlook published in June by the International Energy Agency, which says renewable energy is growing quickly worldwide, and will edge out natural gas as the second biggest source of electricity, after coal, by 2016.
