Eircom clearing faults, but levels still high

20 Dec 2011

Broadband and telephone services that were knocked out by bad weather recently are being restored to Eircom customers across Ireland.

The telecoms company said late yesterday crews are working across the country to clear faults that are still at a high level.

Crews cleared more than 10,000 faults over the last week, with 2,700 faults cleared over Saturday and Sunday alone, Eircom said.

There are now fewer than 4,000 faults nationwide, Eircom said, with worst-affected areas being in counties Sligo, Mayo, Donegal, west Cork and southwest Kerry.

“We would like to reassure all of our customers who are currently experiencing a disruption to their telephone and broadband service that we are working as quickly as possible to repair all outstanding faults,” Eircom said.

Eircom reminds its customers they can log faults at any time on the “Log a Fault” section of its website or through its automated customer service line, 1901.
