What with YouTube blocking all premium music videos, news that MTV has now been added to Magnet’s line-up of free-to-view channels from your laptop or desktop could not have come at a better time.

Customers of Magnet’s FTTH (fibre-to-the-home) and LLU (local loop unbundling) broadband services already have the option to watch RTÉ1, RTÉ2, TV3, TG4 and BubbleHits on their PC, when running Magnet’s PCTV software.

Now you can switch over from the soaps, news and Dragon’s Den to some quality music videos, as well as great entertainment including The Hills, My Super Sweet 16and Pimp My Ride.

And that’s not forgetting TV3’s 3e channel, which will also be available over Magnet broadband and serves up some favorites such as My Name Is Earl, Family Guy,HeroesandCSI.

The free PCTV service gives live full-screen television viewing over the PC, and is bundled in with the phone and broadband package.

“Over 45pc of our existing residential customers have taken up our free TV service since it was launched last year, proving the popularity of watching TV on a PC,” said Mark Kellett, CEO of Magnet Networks.

“I guess now there are less rows over who gets to watch Champion’s League and Prime Time!”
